> When your balance fails, you are in danger of falling. A bad fall can cause an injury that can ultimately change your life. That’s why we work hard on relearning good balance when you are in the studio.
Balance is a motor skill and motor skills require practice to stay sharp. If you feel your balance is not as good as it used to be, the good news is that with practice, you can get it back.
One of my clients tripped and fell while she was on one of her bi-weekly hikes. She broke her wrist. The resulting recovery took 2 years! To top it off, she was afraid to hike again.
We've been working hard on balance skills and recently she stepped in some salad dressing on the floor of a restaurant and slipped very quickly. She said she could feel her core muscles contract as she reached out for a chair and caught herself in the nick of time. Stories like this remind me of why I love my job.
(P.S. She's hiking again.)
