I love weight training and have been working out for over 30 years now. For me, Fitness is a lifelong journey, and I truly believe it is the only real fountain of youth there is.

My specialty is “Fitness-Over-Fifty”.

My Mission is to help clients feel vital, competent and confident. I give them back skills they thought they had lost, and I strive to help them to Live Life Out Loud!!

My original “fitness inspiration” came from my Dad. I grew up watching him work out in the basement. He was a high school athlete and a bricklayer, so staying fit was just something he did. I would watch him with his barbells and hold his feet while he did sit ups. He was always so strong and capable – larger than life really. I knew I wanted very much to be like him!

Combine this with the fact that I have always been an early riser. In 1970 there was not much on at 6am for kids to watch: news, news, news and….Jack LaLanne! I didn’t actually do the exercises; I would just watch, but it was very interesting to me even then.

At 20, I got my first gym membership and my 6-pack was born! I would always have people coming up to me at the gym asking me what I was doing and why – wanting to emulate my physique and vitality.

At 35 I was asked to take over my favorite Step Aerobics class as an instructor. I got my Group Fitness Certification and taught the class 3 days a week for 9 years! (Getting paid to do cardio—how awesome is that??) I still continued to clang and bang iron along with my cardio, and I still received so many questions when I was in the weight room about how and why I was doing something, that I decided to get my Personal Trainers Certification.

I thought I would train fit, youngish people like me, but it turned out that the people who gravitated toward hiring me were not in their 20’s, 30’s & 40’s, but instead were over 50. I had to be very creative sometimes, working around injuries, surgeries & general cranky parts. It turns out I have an incredible knack for this creativity!

In working with older clients: to help them stay healthy & active, or to help recover some of the basic activities of daily living, I began to see what a difference I was making. Not just helping to get a chiseled body, but literally giving back confidence and vitality, and allowing clients to live a life that still included adventures!

I have seen a “Life Shift” in my clients over and over again. Confidence gained in workouts carries over to a renewed Confidence in Life. I encourage clients to stretch their physical horizons through their workouts with me, and it ends up transferring to all areas of their lives. When you train hard and push yourself in your workouts, when you succeed at a skill that you didn’t think you could, you can’t wait for tomorrow to come. You can’t wait to tackle something today that had challenged you only yesterday!

You end up bringing a passion & confidence to your life that is Intrinsic.

And it becomes infectious.
